Sadaharitha Plantations Limited establishes a large scale teak nursery at Karambewewa.

Sadaharitha Plantations Limited just established a large scale teak nursery at Karambewewa Estate to obtain the required seedlings for planting in own lands.

From October 2010, Sadaharitha Plantations Limited uses the teak seedlings which are established in its own nurseries in order to establish high quality teak plantations. For this reason, the Karambewewa Estate of the Puttlam Region was selected because most of the teak plantations are established by the Company in that area in the near future. The new nursery is capable of producing 60,000 seedlings per annum and those seedlings are used for meeting the Companies planting target of teak, i.e., 200 acre per year.

The seeds required for the nursery are bought from the Forest Department Seed Orchards. Those Seed Orchards are proven to be the best ones for producing the high quality teak plantations all over the country.
